Bye-bye blemishes.

It’s easy to see spider veins and red spots, particularly on someone’s face. Dozens of tiny veins twist, dilate, and break, creating red, bruise-like spots on the face. Unlike bruises, spider veins don’t heal and disappear over time.

We use intense-pulsed light therapy, or IPL, the Gemini laser, and KTP lasers to treat spider veins and red spots on the face. Patients often see results within four to six weeks following treatment. Typically, two treatments are all that are required to achieve significant improvement in broken blood vessels, and patients experience only mild discomfort during the brief procedure. During a brief consultation, one of our experts will evaluate your skin to determine which laser treatment is most appropriate.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Intense pulsed light therapy, or IPL, is based on emitting high-intensity pulses of filtered light to penetrate the skin and rid various conditions with minimal discomfort and no downtime. Using light filters, the energy of the intense pulsed light can be focused on specific targets. Although the IPL is not really a laser, it is a powerful tool. It erases mild sun damage, freckles, and light brown spots on the face, neck, and chest. In fact, many patients report the added bonus of a reduction in pore size, smoother skin, and fewer wrinkles. With IPL, we can treat your unwanted skin discolorations, minimize the appearance of rosacea and blood vessels under the skin, and control acne.

KTP Laser

The KTP laser is an innovative tool that provides the best possible outcomes for patients. The KTP laser removes spider veins on the face, red lesions on the face and body, brown lesions (raised like liver spots or skin tags), and brown spots (flat like freckles or sun damage spots). Visible results can be seen after a single treatment. However, it could take multiple treatments depending on severity.

The KTP laser works by selectively targeting irregular spots on the skin. Specifically, the laser targets red (hemoglobin) and brown (melanin) areas on the skin. While treating redness on the skin, the energy of the KTP laser gently coagulates the blood vessels below the skin’s surface. This collapses those visible blood vessels and decreases the generalized redness seen in rosacea. While treating lentigines (sun spots), the energy of the KTP targets the melanocytes presents in the epidermis.

Treatment with the KTP laser does not take long; the length of the treatment depends on the area being treated. Depending on what you are treating, you may have gel applied to your skin. The treatment itself is not painful and you will be ready to go immediately after the treatment.

There is no downtime after treatment with the KTP laser. It does not cause bruising or excessive redness, and most patients return to work or social events immediately after their treatment. Brown spots may become temporarily darker following the treatment. To remove blood vessels or brown spots, one to two sessions are usually needed. Some patients see results in a single session and only need a one treatment; other patients require a series of treatments.

Each patient is unique; therefore, results of treatment may vary.
